1/31/2024 0 Comments Epson printer drivers for apple![]() I really appreciate the feedback and suggestions. Epson basically has said they are releasing drivers as they can, but I am sure I will be speaking with them this week even on issues related to Monterey drivers - which wasn't a walk in the park either.Īlways fun with computers. (I'm on Windows 10 and have not upgraded to 11 still waiting for the dust to settle). Time will fix this - and yes I should not have upgraded. ![]() The reality appears to be that Air Print is not helpful - because you need the full use of the driver and it's ability to control the printer. And yes some shared responsibility with the printer vendors. This appears to be some big changes Apple made which some developers believe was made unnecessarily complicated - moreso than it needed to be. I finally did talk with some of my expert photographers who are extremely MAC and Epson imaging focused. UPDATE: So just as an update here, I bit the bullet and reimaged the machine to Monterey (which is the MAC OS shipped with the device last summer). Your ICC profiles or their updates would still need to be sourced from Epson. It is also Epson's responsibility to keep their drivers functional with new releases of macOS, again, if they choose to do so.Īpple's built-in AirPrint also supports the ET-8550 when networked, and that would avoid needing any device drivers directly from Epson. Again, Apple has no influence on a vendor's product support and release schedule. It is their responsibility, not Apple's, to develop/test/release drivers for the forthcoming (Ventura) operating system - if they choose to do so. Just spent the best part of the day with Apple Support only to learn that my printer manufacturer (Epson) has not yet released the updates for my printer to align with Big Sur 11.0. I you have not downloaded that specific October driver, I would do that, install it, and re-add your printer so it can see the new driver.Įpson had access to the Ventura Developers (SDK) tools as early as June 2022. That said…Įpson released printer drivers for the ET-8550 in Oct 2022 for Ventura. Your responsibility, not Epsons or Apple. To make sure, restart the Mac.Always validate that a vendor provides support for the target operating system before upgrading or switching to a new Mac. ![]() Just drag it or send it to the trash and then empty trash. Go to Library and you will see a folder with the title Epson PowerEngage. How to get rid of this annoying application on your Mac. If it is not listed there let me know and I’ll do some research and see if I can find out where it is hiding so you can remove it.ĮDIT: I found this in Apple Support Communities. If it is just delete it from the list and it won’t automatically startup when you startup and login in to your computer. See if the Epson PowerENGAGE software is listed there. Go to Apple menu > System Preferences > Users & Groups and select the ‘Login Items’ tab. Installing software from the manufacturer usually also installs junk like this Epson PowerENGAGE stuff that is more of a pain than anything else. Whenever you set up a new printer just plug it into your computer or connect to it over Wi-Fi and macOS will download any drivers it requires from the internet and only the actual drivers during the set up process in System Preferences. As a general rule you shouldn’t need to install printer drivers on macOS.
